"All SEC teams are the best in the country because they have to play all the other teams in the SEC". It's rediculous. Where is the evidence florida is any good? is is because they looked so good against Miami OH, USF? oh wait they didn't look good against those teams. They put a pasting on Tennesee and Kentucky two legitamate teams right? please. Mississipi State, Ole Miss, Tenn., and Kentucky are all so much better than the Penn State, Texas A&M, and Cals of the world, give me a break. But in the SEC if you beat up on your mediocre to poor teams suddenly you are in the top 10 and don't drop when you lose to the better teams. How do you think LSU would do having to play Iowa, Mich St, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, and Northwestern with a mix of at home or on the road? probably not as well as Ohio State would plaing Auborn, Florida, SC, Alabama and LSU mixed on the road and home. Also people always like to say Boise or a TCU would lose X amount of games in the SEC. Which teams would beat Boise or TCU at boise or TCU? You don't think BOISE or TCU could go on the raod and beat an LSU or Florida they way those teams have played against mediocre teams this year? please The truth is every conference has a few really good teams and a bunch of mediocre to poor teams. The only way to say which teams are the Best is when they play
Nobody is slobbering over the SEC. Just comparing it to the weak [deleted] Big Ten. Ohio State doesn't even play the second best team in their conference, Mich St. (as of right now). Nebraska will provide some more balance when they join, a move that Jim Tressel doesn't like I'm sure.

Have you asked Jim Tressel if he likes that?
The Big Ten's two divisions put Michigan and Nebraska in one division and Ohio State and Penn State in the other. The conference did that because it wanted balance.
How do you know the Big Ten is weak? Were you aware that the Big Ten went 4-3 in its bowl games last year and 2-0 in its BCS games as Iowa beat Georgia Tech and Ohio State beat Oregon?
Ohio State doesn't play Michigan State because there is rotation of two teams each year somebody is going to miss. Minnesota misses Indiana and Michigan. I think Illinois misses Iowa and Wisconsin.
Just knock it off.

We need a [deleted]...ing play off! None of this other crap proves or means anything.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Couldn't disagree more. I love the idea, but the execution will kill non AQ schools. The bowl games would go away and where would the non AQ schools play? The only way I would ever agree to a playoff is if only conference champions got in. The BCS system and the networks would never allow it. They would rather have the loser of the Big 12 or the SEC championship game rather than a ECU.

Of course it is fun bickering over which is the strongest conference, schedule, team in the land. That is why college football is a great subject, everyone is right and nobody can prove any different.
The real issue is why the Big East is an AQ conference! CUSA has a better chance of a top 25 team at the end of the season than the Big East. Yet the Big East, as crummy as its members are, will get a big fat paycheck while a TCU/BSU/Utah get screwed.

Mike and Mike in the Morning has an analyst who apparently knows the ins and outs of the computation process. He projected Boise State to be #1 in the BCS standings when it comes out next week with TCU at #3. He said even if Boise wins out they may not be the #1 team since their strength of schedule was stronger at the beginning of the year.

Actually a playoff incorporating the bowl games would help everyone. Would some of the lesser bowls prefer ACC#7 vs. CUSA #6 or BCS #9 vs. BCS #10? And keep a few bowls around for those left out of the championship hunt. Suppose SMU wins CUSA and then gets to play Ohio State in the Outback Bowl in the first round?

That would be great, except all of the talk about the playoff system was about the top 8 teams in the country. This means that if you are currently at a non AQ school it would be almost impossible still to make the leap. All of the money would still flow to AQ schools. Look at the talk of TCU/Boise getting dropped as the season continues - even if they win out. If there is a playoff all of the current bowls would go away. The money would not be there from sponsors or TV, because the compelling, meaningful games would be in the playoff system. If the ticket to entrance was winning your conference - I am all in. How attractive does SMU, TCU or Tulane become to recruits / corporate sponsors? At SMU or Tulane you have a better shot at winning your conference than you do at Baylor, Tech, Arkansas or Ole Miss. If you are interested in getting an education, SMU and TCU are ranked in the top 100 Schools. The AQ schools will have lost their greatest recruiting advantage. Now they will have to compete on the quality of their school. As an SMU alum I am willing to fight in that arena. The "mid major" Presidents will never vote for a playoff because it reduces their minority share of the post season money. The AQ's will never vote for a playoff because they already get the majority of post season money and a playoff could possibly reduce their take. Further the entire post season would be reduced from 32 games to 7. Its all about the $$$

Maybe, but right now most of the bowl games don't mean anything and they still have them anyway.

People slobber over the SEC because they have won 4 straight National Championships. They also easily have the best talent in the Country and its been that way for decades

Ohio State will probably get upset this week end at Wisconsin anyway so without a play off this stuff is just bcs bs.
