The ATT shortcoming for coverage during crowded events is a function of the GSM wireless towers that they use. GSM towers, which T-mobile and ATT use, can be overloaded and result in a frustratingly inconsistent signal during crowded events. ATT coverage is notoriously spotty in cities like New York due to the high volume of subscribers. The US standard towers are CDMA, which are used by Verizon and Sprint. CDMA can handle larger volumes of calls and data transfers without interference. I know this doesn't help solve anyone's issues, but it does give you an idea of why coverage issues are as they are.

On a side note, GSM is the global standard outside of the US, which is why most ATT phones can be turned on internationally and Verizon and Sprint users must have dual or quad band phones to use them overseas.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.

Potential is nothing, performance is everything.

I started turning off 3g this season, but it is not a cure-all. Each game this year I've tried accessing game stats, ponyfans, and other websites, and no dice. You can typically receive and send texts and phone calls, but even that is hit and miss.

Turning 3g off is better than having a useless iphone shaped brick, but it still has its limitations.

I have been playing with the cbcsports app and like the conference aspects but can't stand that I have to go through hoops each time I open it to get back to where I was. ESPN Sportscenter opens up where I was last.

yea, it's frustrating to try and check other scores, stats, etc. however, thanks to the new and improved scoreboard this year, it does a pretty good job of cycling through scores of the other games.
