Thanks PonyScott. That's all I needed to know. I was not aware of all of those matters.

Unfortunately, we have some dunderheads on here -- mainly that old bat in Memphis -- who believed I had an agenda where the fact of the matter was I wanted an answer this question.

I am sure June thought that if they started winning games and going to bowl games that people would get excited and start coming to the games and wearing the red and blue with pride. Unfortunately, the apathy and the reasons SMU along with Rice and TCU weren't allowed to tag along to the Big 12 still haunt the program. Until the fans come out and support the team with attendance at the sporting events, it is hard to ask a coach to do more. When the fans start coming, good things happen...see TCU....see Baylor this year. What is so sad is that there is this huge population around SMU and it is such a wonderful college enviroment but most people don't know about it or think it is strictly for the park cities and SMU people. It is a bargain!

I'll bet 2/3 of the populace within 15 miles of Ford that does NOT live in the Park Cities doesnt even know there is football played on Saturdays at Mockingbird & 75.

SMU needs to get a clue about marketing itself. No budget? Fine. Figure something out. Entrepreneurs do it all the time.

Then why that you assume he is "holed up in his office" and that he apparently doesn't realize he has "got more on his plate"?

"My belief is if you're making $2 million a year to coach a Division I football team, you don't need to be holed up in your office and your practice field. I want him to put together the best gameplan every week. But when you're the head coach, you got more on your plate."

Coach Jones gets out plenty, and he is constantly selling SMU. He speaks publicly, he talks up the university, he tweets, he makes appearances. He spends loads of time selling the school.

What does his salary have to do with it? If he were making half his current salary, would he be off the hook for selling the program and the school?

Keep stirring. Hope it's fun.

tt just fired a coach because he did't play the big booster game.
they are going to regret it for a very long time. he won a ton of games for them and put them on the national map.
let the coach coach
the boosters dont' have to be his best friend
they need to stay out of his way
you guys who are down on june obviously haven't been around smu for very long.
you would have loved cavan and bennett.

I have said on many occasions that I do not like June's offense and never have. I think it's ridiculous.

But I have also said it doesn't really matter what I and other people fans think. If you have a philosophy that you believe in, get the people on board, get the players to fit the system and believe in it, then it will succeed.

I also think it does it does a constant disservice to the program when others feel the need to provide WEEK BY WEEK comparisons with what SMU is doing and what Hawaii is doing.

We need to leave Hawaii in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and stop attempting to drag it over here. I'm phet up with that crap. In fact, I've been done with that crap for about the last 2 3/4 years.

I see June in easily accessible areas each week and never bother him, or go up shaking his hand, or ask him questions. Same with Steve O. You're right Nacho get out of their way and let them do the job. I personally love Coach Jones. He doesn’t have to make me feel good. Just coach. As far as Steve O is concerned I feel bad for the guy when he comes to any game the blvd, etc, people attack him constantly with all of it. I do not engage them. In fact I think the only thing I ever said to Coach Jones was the first time I met him at the winter signing day party. He walked over to me and talked for a while and I think the reason was I had jogging suit on he had no socks and everyone else was in a suit. I asked him if he was the new swim coach
