Houston WILL loseTo either UCF, Tulsa, or both.
UCF and Tulsa looked strong this weekend. The road to the West title still looks extremely passable at this time. Must beat UTEP! "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: Houston WILL loseYet UH may have been the most impressive. Houston is now officially on a roll-I think I read they had 680 yards TO with a Freshman QB. Remember Friday Nite is the big matchup between UCF and UH on ESPN. I now feel that SMU will have to win out to be in the Championship.

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Houston WILL loseucf is favored over uofh so hopefully that will happen.

It was UGLY, but I'll take it! "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: Houston WILL losethe play where padron was trying to throw it out of bounds but ar caught it and went 82 yds for a td needs to be put in the playbook. at the time i thought it was a heck of a throw. right between two defenders.
it was only ugly until the last 17 minutes. it then became beautiful.
Re: Houston WILL loseVery spotty performance against Tulane. I wonder why this team cannot seem to put together a good 60 minute performance?
Re: Houston WILL lose
There may be some issues. I think June had a pretty good heart to heart talk with the team at half time according to the DMN. To paraphrase what I remember reading, he told them that "...everything the coaches had told the team not to do they did." He then told them "...to shut their mouths, do their jobs and that the team that played the hardest was the team that would win." Seemed to work. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Houston WILL loseHouston plays UCF, Tulsa, and at USM....chances of losing one of these is very good.
However, has SMU shown that we can beat Marshall at home and get road wins at ECU and UTEP. Yes on paper, we should be able to win these games, but this team has not looked good for a long time and you have to start to wonder that maybe we are overrated. I think if we win out, we will be champions of the West, I just do not seeing this team doing it at this point. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: Houston WILL loseWelcome to the NFL....I mean division 1 football. If you don't play hard and smart every week and the coaches don't do a good job of preparation and the other team does, then hello loss column! Especially a team like SMU that is either young or thin at so many positions. And then the injuries....we were lucky Tulane was not very well-coached and didn't exploit our major weakness but instead chose to do what they do best. Proud of the mustangs by getting pancaked in the first 2 1/2 quarters defensively but did enough to stay within striking distance until the offense came alive. Boy did they finish strong!
Re: Houston WILL loseI think the fumble at the end of the first drive really shook the offense. (And the other one's did not help.)
I think putting JJ in was a good "reset." ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: Houston WILL loseU are wrong as Tulane was very well coached and was exploiting our weaknesses, as evidenced by out inability to stop them in the first three quarters. SMU was expecting them to pass and they threw us off with a double tight end set and jammed it down our thoats....
Re: Houston WILL loseYes, the whole thing was very weird....
I definitely agree we fully expected them to pass and they crossed up with all those runs, BUT, When they finally did start to pass, they were pitiful, looked worse than Navy trying to throw, and this against our banged up and young secondary. The big key was when we finally figured out "these guys suck at passing", and we brought 8 men up to the line and dared them to throw, and they failed miserably. Maybe they had a bad day, but that team looked like they had no clue how to run a pass offense. Just glad we figured that out in time. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: Houston WILL loseWe need to play down to our opponents level every week, we will lose. If we win the west its because JJ did a great coaching job. This team still has talent gaps and flaws. To be able to hide those or work around those is a sign of a coach who can adapt to what he has.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
