If it scared Padron straight then they weren't wasted downs.

Padron is what, third in the country in touchdown passes? I'd say that while he certainly can sharpen up some things, the system seems to be working OK. If Coach J wants the QB to trot over for a between-plays chat, I'd say keep doing it.

His old coach, Hal Mumme, thought highly of him, and Mumme knows a thing or two about quarterbacks. Coach Jones has said McDermott has NFL potential. If that's true, he's more than capable of playing at the college level, when given the chance.

I have no idea of McDerrmott's ability or potential, but he sure looks the role. Good size and strong arm. I saw him up close for the first time at the Houston game. He just looks like a big time QB.

i think it did a good job of waking kyle up, but why did Jones keep putting in JJ for only 1 play at a time?

1 play only, a whole drive, until he screws up... all of these are reasonable amounts of time for putting in the backup, but why for 1 play repeatedly on first down only? trying to hit the deep ball that KP kept missing or something???

Again, Jones addresses this in the interview up on ponystampede. It is free.

I don't think Jones liked what he was seeing out there and got ticked. Glad it worked although JJ didn't do anything to warrant continuing this.

I'm in favor of him playing a little bit but would hope it was garbage time. Most of the time the backup gets stuck going in and is rusty like Jones said.

Look at Texas last year in the NC game, had Gilbert taken a snap all year - he wasn't prepared at all.
