Two years ago, in June Jones's first season as SMU's head coach, the Mustangs were just beginning the process of learning to win. Last year, the Ponies won — enough to reach their first bowl game in 25 years.

For Jones and his staff, the teaching process continues, according to PonyFans.com's John Hampton. Now that the Mustangs have a feel for winning individual games, the next step is learning to win championships, a process that still could end with a Conference USA title as early as this season.
