Hate to say I told you so.

Posted we would not win UTEP game and many said I was crazy, UTEP didn't play anyone, etc. but unfortunately I was correct and we couldn't man up and beat UTEP. Very disappointed with how we lost. UTEP did not have its 2 best defensive players play, played with 2 backups on the OL (and rotated a 3rd in), and Buckram wasn't 100% because of injuries and still easily handled us.

I have seen every game in person or on TV or via internet. What is discouraging is no improvement after 10 games, in fact regression especially by the offense. Also special teams remain horrible, no progression or improvement in any area. After 10 games we should be seeing improvement or the coaches should try different schemes or players.

I watched UTEP game with neighbor who is defensive coordinator at 5A school down here. He said what he noticed was defense did not attempt to tackle correctly and instead just going for the football, and that our QB consistently missed his short reads when his deep ball covered. He also said didn't understand why we didn't blitz more to at least confuse their QB or give them a different look. I think it is time to stop preaching turnovers and start preaching tackling and correct alignment. 56 Davis is a stud but as others have noticed on here he often is out of place and misses tackles. Defensive Coach I was watching game with said he just seems out of position alot.

I think it is better we don't win the West because we don't deserve it and we would travel to UCF and get destroyed. Better to beat Marshall and get Armed Forces bowl (hopefully) and play well at home. I also think Navy game still effects us as defense and DL not same since having to prepare for that offense, and our offense has to produce more points or go ahead and make some changes to try and shake things up.

Good post and I reluctantly agree that it is probably in our long term best interest to win out, but not represent the West in the championship game. It will be interesting to see how June deals with the malaise that has come over this team. He has a bye week to make decisions over changes in the schemes and players.

Is your friend, the defensive coordinator at a San Antonio 5a school with a program that has made deep runs in the 5A playoffs (I don't recall any San Antonio teams going very far in the last 10 years besides Judson)? He should get his high school resume and submit it to June or Mac or even Briles since the guys they have don't have the proper high school knowledge required.

We also do not play with the kind of fire and passion we had in the t.c.u and tech

games, even though we lost those 2 games, if we would play all the games

with that same kind of intensity we would win a lot more.

Really ? Guess Smithson Valley playing Southlake Carroll in 2004 or 2005 title game that Carroll won on last second field goal after 2 controversial calls doesn't count, or when Smithson Valley played them few years earlier in title game (I think it was 2002 but Carroll did kill them), or when Roosevelt and Judson both won titles coming from same district (one big 5A, one regular 5A), but they may have been in the 1990s, or the fact that 2 of the top running backs in the NATION this year who played on this years opening ESPN game are Malcolm Brown at Steele (who is going to UT) and Aaron Brown at Madison (who is going to Nebraska), etc.

Wasn't the point of my post. I am as big a supporter of SMU as you may ever know, but others who are not can be objective about what is wrong with the team. I asked a football coach of 20 plus years who has worked with Jim Streety and Coach Hill what he thought we were doing wrong and that is what he told me. Is he right, I don't know but I think he had some good points that should be considered.

After 10 games I have seen little improvement. I didn't post sky was falling after week 1, or week 3, or even week 5. They are 10 games in and offense still not scoring enough points. I don't know why but I hope this week the coaches get those corrected or give other players a chance to perform, if at least for a series or two, because what we have tried so far has not looked good.

I agree with others Sterling Moore's injury is huge, but last I checked he played defense. Him being out is no excuse why our offense scored less points on UTEP than Tulane, New Mexico, etc., especially with UTEP's stud LB out for the year, and their DL and safety injuried and out.

Hate to say I told you so - exactly what is the point you're trying to make? Are you ranting or just wanting to let us know that you are all knowing? Not trying to be offensive but we don't need the negativity. El Paso is a tough place to play, although, the two weeks leading up to our game didn't appear so. Let's focus on the next two games and get to 7-5 and move on to a bowl. All on this board new going into this year that next year looked more promising than this year. Also, I hate to admit it, Padron is having the typical sophomore slump - if you believe in that sort of voodoo poop. Anyway, good fodder to visit about.
