I think he may be able to purchase a second sport coat

One of the primary functions of an University President is fund raising. I assume that the Board does an on-going cost benefit analysis concerning Dr. Turner and has found he is well worth what he is being paid. The money coming into SMU aside from student tuition seems to be ever increasing as is our national academic standing. In my opinion, Dr. Turner is building a nationally sighificant University. Hopefully our athletic department can keep pace.

SMU continues to make great academic strides under GT's leadership. For example, Cox MBA is #12 in recent Business Week poll. Tops in Texas. UT was #25.

Old news.

Plus, the original story came from the Chronicle of Higher Ed...

http://chronicle.com/article/Compensation-of-30/125371/

And the Daily Campus reported it even earlier than that:

http://www.smudailycampus.com/news/turn ... -1.1729048

Then, the year they chose was anomalous, too - Turner's regular salary would barely crack the top 30 - per the Dallas Morning News story on the front page:

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 7ff4f.html

His salary is expected to be less than $1m for this year.

This is all just a convenient tie-in to the Bush Library/Institute goings on.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.
