Some questions from a Herd fan

Sounds like our Big Green Club will be having our tailgate at Peggy Sue's BBQ...how far is that to the stadium.

Where would you recommend me parking for that event? Can I walk to the game, then walk back afterwards and get on the road home quickly?

Grab the BBQ to go, and get out on the Boulevard. You won't regret it.

Its at the very corner of the Northwest side of the campus. About a 3 minute walk to the North end of Boulevard and about a 8 minute walk to the Stadium. Great food-definitely not tailgating.

Bishop Blvd is the "Boulevard" or the "Vard" where we "tailgate".

Peggy Sue's is at the northwest corner of the campus across from the Law Quad and Ford Stadium is at the southeast corner of the campus. The Vard is between the two.

Public Service Message: Peggy Sue's has nice and usually fresh(er) veggies, and a couple of sandwiches they make with griddled jalapeno bread are quite good. As far a sliced beef, I went back to PS's just a month ago, after getting take out, to complain about how lean (ultra-lean is not necessarily good in brisket) and down right dry the meat was. Everything, moisture and flavor, had been cooked out. The asst. manager admitted that they had gotten more than a couple of complaints about that (time frame not disclosed). I would offer my opinion that Banditos (Tex-Mex) or Kuby's (German with emphasis on sausages and schnitzels), both right across the street, are better food. Peggy Sue's for Bar B Q (brisket) in my opinion, doesn't rate top 25 in DFW. FYI, I live within two blocks of Snider Plaza so all SP establishments are sort of home turf.

Going to be heading down to the game this weekend, got a few questions for you.

1. Im staying at the Hilton Park Cities or something like that, what is in the area around that hotel.
2. How close is it to the stadium.
3. How is parking / tailgating areas at the stadium.
4. Has anyone done the "self guided" tour of Cowboy Stadium? How is it?

I am driving down with three others, getting into town around 4pm, and leaving right after the game, what all MUST I do rather than watch the Herd win.

I attended the 50th on the 50 fundraiser for the B's&G's club of Arlington that was held on the field of Cowboy's Stadium...it's a must see, really stunning.

I know this will tick off someone on this board, but in the interest of honesty, I flat out did not like Peggy Sue's the two times I ate there for some of the reasons 78pony states above. Plus I thought the decor looked like Dairy Queen meets Archie Bunker's living room. That was a few years back, so maybe something has changed. But I won't be going back unless someone forces me.

Banditos is outstanding. My single favorite Tex Mex joint anywhere.

Good fit for me. You can go Mi Cocina upscale with some of the plates (e.g. the BBP) or Hererra's basic (e.g. the Lone Star) with others. And you've got a constant stream of Jerry Jeff, Bob Keen, and Willie in the background.

Oh, and don't overlook the very cool SWC shirt they sell.

I've seen Johnston and Aikman at Bandito's a couple of times.

they have the cozy fun atmosphere w/ great margarita's in giant frosty cups that Mi Cocina lacks, although if you are looking for good food and a more conservative upscale enviro i fully endorse it...it's been my most visit spot on family weekend.
