A couple of points. 1. Garidos used to coach at CSF when they finished second, and they went out and accepted their trophy. So he knew the protocol, and it was a school he used to coach. Its even worse because he dissed a school he left to go to bigger places. 2. This is about sportsmanship and class. There are times that you have to show it and both of those things show up more when you lose. You can hide no class no sportsmanship when you win, but when you lose, how do you handle it. With grace, or whinny protest. Lastly, CSF, kicked their butts and deserve all the accolades due them. I love it when the little guys do that to the big dogs. Let's not focus on those no account, classless bums at UT and focus our kudo's on a very deserving champ, Cal State Fullerton.
UT lacked classAs I said, the no show by UT was BAD. They lost in two straight, so the second place finish was clearly deserved. The coach and team were over confident and embarassed to have lost to his former team. They have tarnished the UT record permanently. I look forward to when we can tarnish their record some too.
My other point is that other schools look at SMU as arrogant rich kids whether we win or not. Remember the routines about "Yo Mama was my maid." Sportsmanship and a good rivalry can co-exist. Since we are in a football period of building character, I guess we will have to emphsize what we can be good at - attitude.
