Norm speculates about UH/Tulsa/SMU to Big East

sooner or later-probably real soon- the Football programs and Basketball(only) programs of the Big East will split. This has been the assumption for a long time

Texas may not really care, but the rest of the Big 12 does not like the idea of all the Big East etc. schools playing and recruiting regularly in Texas. This might cause some changes in the Big 12 sooner than they want to.

Steve Orsini is a pretty smart guy. I think back to his comment this summer that he viewed what's happening now as just a precursor to a much larger seismic shift in the future. This is a great move for TCU in the short run. But I agree with Orsini's sentiment that these are all just temporary stop-gaps. The real blowup will happen when: (1) the Big-12 breaks up; and/or (2) the Big-10 or Pac-12 decide to expand beyond 12 teams. That's what we need to position for. I am confident that our administration and major boosters understand this.

they need to increase the size of these conferences. look at what we have now. the big 12-2 is about to go downhill fast. the acc is awful. the big east really isn't impressive either. what does that leave us with? i wish some of these conferences would join forces and make the move to 16 teams.
