Rivals Texas Top 100the long awaited Rivals Texas Top 100 is out. Chris Hall is listed as the No 67 prospects. Several top prospects who once considered SMU are in the top 100 generally in the Top 30 or so like Russell Ball, Shavers, Vincent Williams, Keenan Clayton, Demarcus Granger, Ishe Odueqwu, Byron Eaton, Jamal Charles. One kid whose flown under the radar a bit despite being the MVP of the Class 5A state championship game is LB Paul Thorton of Katy who is listed as the No. 79 prospect but whose only report prominently mentions SMU. Great student as well with a 3.8 BTW 41% of the Texas Top 100 have already committed by July 21, 2004 more than 6 1/2 months from signing date-many more will commit in the next 2-3 weeks. It may be early but its also later than you think!!!

Its kinda hard to tell because you have to open a window for each player. But an educated guess based upon what I have time to check would include the following additional players. DE Auston English 6-4,220 4.6 Canadian-strongly favors OU and others, DT Donald Horton 6-2, 250? lists us with low interest, No 83 Nick Richmond 6-7, 281 5.35 leaning to TCU but considering SMU and others., No. 97 Quinton Johnson 6-3, 315 5.48 Port Arthur Memorial.

I've always gotten the sense that with the exception of a serious stud like DeMarcus Granger, linemen are harder to rate until they've played part or all of their senior season, in part because these are still growing players, and there's a wide variation between the remaining growth for HS seniors. Some are full-grown, others still have a good growth spurt or two in them.
