SMU head coach June Jones gets a lot of credit — and deservedly so — for the current status of the SMU Mustangs: preparing to play for the team's first conference championship in nearly three decades. But according to PonyFans.com's John Hampton, Jones has been successful in part because he is surrounded by a staff of able assistant coaches whose contributions sometimes can be underappreciated.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
