Newcomers' jersey numbers

The roster is made up and jersey numbers have been assigned for newcomers (and changes for some returning players):

3 -- Devin Lowery: WRs in single digits look faster. And this guy was fast to begin with.

4 -- Tony Eckert: Number seems to have worked out OK for another QB or two, like that Southern Miss grad who plays in Wisconsin on Sundays now. Classic look.

5 -- Wilton McCray: Will look more intimidating in 5 if he slides back to secondary. If he stays at LB, he'd better be even faster than we think.

7 -- David Haynes: Looks just like Joe Theismann, except with two fully healthy legs.

8 -- DeMyron Martin: GREAT number assignment. Single-digit RBs just look like college players - great college players. You'd never seen an NFL guy like Ricky Williams (wait a minute ....) wearing a single-digit jersey.

9 -- Jessie Henderson: As fast as he is, it'll look (in pictures) as if he's wearing 99. Or maybe 999.

11 -- Cory Muse: Now he has to play like LaVar Arrington. No pressure.

13 -- Jerad Romo: Take Dan Marino, make him a lefty, lose the Hasselhoff hair and bingo - Jerad Romo.

15 -- Robert Gilmore: Not sure why the number switch. Perhaps an inspirational move, since that's how many miles Gilmore ran (uphill .... both ways .... in the rain) every during rehab on that horrific knee injury.

17 -- Travis Hunt: Was 23. Then 46. Now 17. And only a junior. Dude changes jersey numbers more than Cavan changed QBs.

21 -- Jonathan Lindley: Great number for a CB. He's better -- and classier -- than Slime Time Sanders.

32 -- Foy Munlin: Wore 40 on last year's practice squad. But there are a few RBs out there who have done rather well in 32, right?

38 -- Tony Hawkins: At his size, he looks a little like the last guy who wore the number (LB D.D. Johnson). Since nobody covered Johnson, they'll leave Hawkins alone, too.

45 -- Andrew McKinney: In a one-back offense, how much do you need a blocking back? Answer: not much. In a few weeks, we'll be asking how that studly freshman DE looks in 45.

57 -- Landon Dyer: (LB / 5-11, 214 - Bangs, Texas) Sure. LB from Bangs -- makes sense. (Don't worry - nobody else knows who he is, or where Bangs is, either.)

75 -- Sean Lobo: Think how imposing this jersey would have looked if we'd only signed his sister Rebecca.

82 -- Bobby Chase: Perfect. Number in the low 80s for a big WR. Good fit.

86 -- Vincent Chase: Also perfect. Not a glamour number often assigned to pedigree TEs. Mundane number will cause defenses to forget about him. Bad idea.

91 -- Kyle Griffin: One for every pound Chuck Faucette wants to add to his body.

Actually Travis Hunt was #13 as a freshmen along with Richard Bartel until they gave him #23 at the end of his freshmen year. He played the whole season last year as #17 and was handed #46 in the spring, although the last couple of spring pratices he wore #17. Now he's #17 again.

And if im not mistaken i've seen Robert Gilmore with #15 from the first day he practied on the Hill Top his freshmen year!!
