1. This "Pony Excess" show is giving SMU more publicity on ESPN and other media outlets than it's gotten in years. Yeah, it's against a background of cheating, but a lot of people don't know or have forgotten what bad-a$$es we were. Yeah, we were cheatin' like crazy and so was everyone else, but for a brief period we had Top 10 football and men's basketball at little ol' SMU.

2. If we did not have the success of the last two football seasons, I suspect "Pony Excess" would be met with less excitement. The documentary would be a painful reminder rather than a fun trip down memory lane. But we HAVE won the last two seasons, so there's hope now.

3. For a lot of us, we don't mind talking about the DP and the scandals of the 1980s as long as it's framed properly. I don't mind discussing that era and what led to SMU's downfall. What I do mind are off-hand comments about SMU and the DP, the snickering jokes, listening to idiots who don't know what they're talking about, and having the DP be the ONLY thing a lot of people think of when SMU is mentioned.

I'm as anti-DP talk as anyone. I hate the "Back from the Dead" T-shirts and other references. That era has NOTHING to do with this one. It's like a bad joke that is told over and over, ad nauseum.
For nearly three decades, the DP is the first thing that comes to mind for a lot of people when SMU comes up in conversation. It got old a long time ago. Thank God we've now got some on-field success to talk about, the dadgum Bush library, etc. Now, with "Pony Excess" coming along at the right time, we can laugh along with them.

But as soon as the hoopla for "Pony Excess" has died down, as far as I'm concerned we no longer need to bring up the DP in any fashion or form. It's ancient history. It's like bringing up Charles Whitman every time UT is mentioned, or the poor kids who died building the bonfire every time A&M comes up in conversation. Nobody died because of the DP, but it's been an extremely painful experience nonetheless and we don't need constant reminders, thank you.

What I really want to know is how much Thad will make off this DP flick ?
Is it a one time fee that will barely break even with his original investors?
Or will the over all future revenue generate enough to compensate the guilt he will feel for it's ugly reminder to the Universy of who they were...

Tonight the World will know again.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
