DALLAS (SMU) - Early high school graduate Conner Preston has enrolled on the Hilltop and will be eligible to participate in Spring drills.
Preston, a three-star Rivals.com quarterback, just finished his prep career at Junipero Serra (Calif.) High School, where he went 29-1 as a starter. As a junior, the 6-2, 205-lb., signal caller helped his squad to the CIF State D-III title and a 15-0 record, while throwing for 3,500 yards, 44 touchdowns and just eight picks. In his final two seasons, Preston completed 66% of his passes for over 7,000 yards and 88 touchdowns with just 16 interceptions. As a sophomore, Preston threw for 2,100 yards and threw 20 touchdowns, while rushing for 400 yards.
"Conner is a player we identified early on in the process and offered. We know what we like in a quarterback, and Conner has those traits," said Jones. "He'll have to learn our system, but with his arm strength, we think he can be a player for us."
National Signing Day for high school student-athletes is Wednesday, Feb. 2.
