Will SMU be webcasting this game? If so, could you provide a link?

Don't think a webcast is in the works. Here's what it says on the 'official' SMU site: http://www.smumustangs.com/index_full.a ... rt=general

There will be a webcast. 7:00pm Ford Stadium on Saturday. Just be there we need the attendance. Besides you want to be able to say you were in the stadium when the turnaround started, not oh I watched on my computer.

I didn't see anything about a webcast. For those of us who live a long way off, does any one know where it can be found?

Apparently, the SMU ticket office has said they've sold enough tickets that they are expecting a Sellout this weekend. So a Webcast would be ideal for Mustang & Red Raider fans who cannot make it into Dallas.

Sorry guys,

As I have reported several times on this board, we (a group of us and SMU) went down the webcast road only to find out that it is specifically prohibited by the new ESPN contract signed by the WAC in June 04. It is deemed to be a national and international distribution of the game to which ESPN has full rights.

This prohibition is just one of the reasons the standard ESPN contract is so ridiculous for non BCS conferences. But the main reason it doesn't work is that they only plan to broadcast 6 WAC games out of the 132 on the schedule, and none of them include SMU.

For these reasons, I like what TCU has done. It opens the door for competition with ESPN. I also anticipate Fox Sports to make a move. The fact that TCU's new deal includes the Internet probably means they will be video streaming some games.

Watch for Rice to continue to video stream their games this season (unless ESPN shuts them down), as they started doing so before the new ESPN contract was signed. Our game with them in early October should be available on a pay per view basis, again provided ESPN does not shut them down in the interim.

ESPN has become the big evil machine.

Webcasting is the wave of the future.

So much so that the Justice Department is investigating ESPN's contract for a possible suit on the basis of operating as a cartel with respect to non BCS conferences.
