JEREMY GRAY: Leaving or staying?

Postby PonyPride » Tue Feb 15, 2011 2:20 am

When his father was hired as an assistant coach at the University of Texas, many assumed SMU cornerback Jeremy Gray would leave SMU to follow his dad to Austin. But less than a month after he was hired, Jerry Gray stepped down at UT to go back to the NFL as defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans. Suddenly Jeremy Gray's future was a little less clear. Gray visited with PonyFans.com to discuss where he'll play next year, and what went into his decision.

Enjoy!

Thanks for keeping us updated, Pride.
I'm glad he's staying. If he's anything like his dad, he's got to be a contributor. You made the right choice, Jeremy!

Glad he's staying. He's a great kid and his father was a former SMU coach.

Can't have too many corners. With Moore gone, we're young across from Crawford. Until someone takes the job and makes it his own, we need a lot of candidates competing and pushing each other to improve.

The "candidates" will be here in the summer as we recruited a JUCO CB and several talented freshman CBs in this years recruiting class, but Jeremy Gray does have talent. He is a smart kid who said all along in high school that he was going to Harvard, but in the end Jeremy decided he wanted to have a chance to play Div. 1 football so he came to SMU. I think he would have received some other Div. 1 offers, but people just assumed he was going to Harvard. Glad he is staying.
