Did anyone else catch the Frontline special that aired last week about injuries in HS football? I'm not normally a Frontline watcher, but it was really interesting. The featured programs were Shiloh Christian from Arkansas and Euless Trinity. The show even had a clip of J. Yenga making a sack.
I should say that I do not follow HS football. So for me the information was all new. It may not be for some others on this board.
The program focused on the changes to HS football in recent years, especially year-round workout programs, made-for-TV HS games, and the physical changes to HS football players and the resulting injuries (including brain injuries) that are apparently becoming more common. Frankly, it was kind of disturbing. To see the culture of money and TV exposure trickling down to the HS level bothers me a lot.
Anyway, its worth watching and should be re-run a few more times this year.
