Re: FS SW: Can Jones find success?8-4 is what my head is telling me. 10-2 if we catch some lucky breaks. I think we beat both Tulsa and Houston on the road. I'm sorry I just think we are the better team with better coaching and superior line play on both sides of the ball to those two teams. I also wouldn't be surprised if we knocked off TCU this year. If ever there was a year to do it, it would be this one.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: FS SW: Can Jones find success?
Depends on which coach shows up. See the bowl game last year.
Re: FS SW: Can Jones find success? My Predictions (With justifications instead of rational explanations):
09/03 - @Texas A&M = W We come out of the box strong and they don't see us coming. Will be a big emotional game for us. (We get three commits that week!) 09/10 - UTEP = L For some reason UTEP has our number 09/17 - Northwestern State = W 09/24 - @Memphis = W They look like us from the post DP years 09/30 - @TCU = W This will be the first time TCU's new QB sees a 3-4 "D" and people coming from all over the place. If we keep him in check and get up by a couple of scores... 10/15 - UCF = L UCF has the most talent in C-USA. It will be close, but a loss. 10/22 - @South. Miss = W They are a good program, but I think this will be one of those early C-USA games that throws everything into chaos. We sneak out with a good road "W" 10/29 - @Tulsa = W New head coach won't have everything to his liking this season and there are always communication problems with new HCs. We will have plenty of time to watch tape on scheme changes. 11/05 - Tulane = W 11/12 - Navy = W This is finally the year we don't give them the game back in the second half. We have a lot of upper classmen now and we will be mentally and physically stronger than years past. 11/19 - @Houston = L The last two games of the season depend on injuries. With Keenum back I think they are stronger. Depends on who is hurting more at the time. 11/26 - Rice = W We can win this game playing with a lot of reserves. No matter what happens it will be tight. Final record 9-3 Houston will blow at least two C-USA games they should win and that will open the door and give us another shot at the title game. We will have to beat Rice to get into the Champ game. Then again... I really don't have any idea what is going to happen. Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall
Re: FS SW: Can Jones find success?Utep lost their whole team, we get them on the road...it will be our 2nd easiest win on the schedule...
Re: FS SW: Can Jones find success?
I said up front my predictions weren't rational... Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall
Re: FS SW: Can Jones find success?hhahahahah just saying home opener to utep no way we lose that one...
Re: FS SW: Can Jones find success?Aggy = Loss
Going on the road in the most hostile environment any of these kids have played in is a lot to ask right out of the shoot. I think we will keep this game competitive and have a chance in the 4th but I don't think we're ready to go on the road and beat a top ten team. University of Mexico at El Paso = Win They suck. The game is at home. The loss to them last year was embarassing and I hope the team plays with a chip on its shoulder. Northwestern State = Win Blowout. Memphis = Win As long as no one rolls out a basketball on the field we should be okay. TCU = Win We slay the dragon in its own cave. Central Florida = Win We have them at home and I believe this is what will tilt the game in our favor. They're the only team in CUSA that IMO is more talented than we are. However, we are as good or better on the offensive and defensive lines as anyone we play all year. Hopefully we wear them down. Southern Miss = Loss On the road this one just seems like a trap game. They're always tough at home and at this point in the season we will have played A&M, TCU, and UCF. We might be a bit tired and I see us dropping this one. Hope I'm wrong. Tulsa = Win We've had their number the past couple of years and with a new HC there are going to be some growing pains. We bounce back after a tough loss to Southern Miss with a resounding road victory over the Golden Hurricane. Tulane = Win They remind me of us circa 2000-2007. Inept in every sense and utterly hopeless. They need a June-esque type of savior and a real commitment from their athletic department or they're going to be completely irrellevant. Like we would've been had we not been able to get JJ and turn this thing around. For their sake I hope they get it done. But its gonna be a while before they are any good at all. Navy = Win Finally. After giving away games to them the past two years we finish them off. Is anyone else tired of this stupid game? We schedule it in the heart of conference play and its a damn triple option team we have to totally change our defense for. Can we please end this series? Houston = Loss This is the watermark game of the season. If we pull it off, we are a 10-2 team and likely in a position to be near or in the Top 25. I think its going to be a GREAT game but we haven't played Houston well the past few years. Hopefully that changes and we can put Cougar High in the rearview mirror as well. I think we come up just a bit short though. Fiesty Night Birds = Win Great opportunity to put the finishing touches on a 9-3 season with a solid thumping of Rice. We can't take anyone for granted but I think we roll the Owls and play in our second straight CUSA Championship against UCF. Only this time at home! CUSA Title Game - UCF = Win First conference title since Reagan was in office (it was a better time). Ford is sold out, we come out firing on all cylinders, and run away from UCF and repay them for the loss last year. June throws his swamp rag lei in the stands and we take the party to Ozona's. Liberty Bowl - SMU vs. Tennessee = Win Party on Beale Street. Holla at Elvis. Try not to become a murder statistic. Watch the Ponies defeat one of the great programs in college football history. We cap off a great season with a Liberty Bowl Championship and knock off an SEC team to cement that we are back and SMU is going to be a part of the bowl season consistently for years to come. With this information why do we even need to play the season ![]() Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: FS SW: Can Jones find success? This next 2 years belong to us. Finally we have some upperclassmen.
