Just making Saturday afternoon conversation.
I met Mallett's agent today when he came to me on unrelated business. He had some interesting stories to tell which, and I do apologize, I will not repeat ones about his personality on this forum. Not because they are anything bad but too often written interpretations are taken in the wrong context. I will say that apparently he is somewhat misunderstood and a very nice young man.
Some things he did talk about I can pass on. While at a try out camp in Dallas, some agents for receivers specifically said their clients would not catch Mallett's passes because of the velocity of his throws. Also, (and I did not catch when this was) there was a time when Mallett's school had to either switch or have special receiver gloves made because his passes were so hard that the ones they had, which were seamed up the middle, would split when the ball hit the hand. They had to get ones with seams on the side.
I will say that from what he had to say, Mallet is in a perfect spot for this time in his life and his career. The time behind Brady will allow him to progress at a pace that will suit him.
