McJunkin Named To 2011 Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List
SMU Senior One Of 42 On List

May 20, 2011

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU senior Blake McJunkin is one of 42 players on the Spring Watch List for the 2011 Rimington Trophy, the award organization announced this week.

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in college football and is named after the award's namesake, Dave Rimington, who was a consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982.

McJunkin, a 6-2, 290-lb. Plano native, started all 14 games at center for the Mustangs last season. He was named All-Conference USA honorable mention, blocking for an offense that totaled a school-record 3,861 passing yards and added 1,943 yards on the ground.

McJunkin is one of four Conference USA centers who were named to the Rimington List. The other C-USA centers tabbed to the Watch List are Eloy Atkinson of UTEP, Trent Dupy of Tulsa and UAB`s Darion Smith.

The winner will be honored at Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 14, 2012.

I wonder if he'll be the only backup on the list? Isn't he still fighting for his starting spot?

My cousin is on the list and will probably win it if they don't move him to tackle this year

Do they give those out for the most posts, too?

Congratulations, Blake! Now go out and prove why you're on the list.
