Another CFB HOF Selection, Another Screw-Job

Postby PonyKai » Mon May 23, 2011 5:14 pm

Well, much like Christmas comes every year, and you can expect it, Eric Dickerson was passed over by the college football Hall of Fame Committee, again. I know a lot of you were holding your breath on that, so please, exhale. It shouldn't come as a surprise, and seriously, he should have been in 20 years ago, but I've been [deleted] like a five year old who spilt their milk to anyone who will put up with my insufferable whining that Dickerson should be in there.

Anyway, since the actual event has passed, Bruce Feldman with the self-proclaimed world wide leader in sports had a discussion and column on why players like Tommie Frazier and Dickerson haven't gotten in, and why other absolute shoo-ins take so long. It's premium, so I got to read about the first four sentences of it.

I don't have the premium access either, but apparently this article is quite interesting....

The President/CEO of the HOF was interviewed and stated that factors including geography and RACE  are considered to create balanced classes.

Dickerson not being in yet has to be death penalty related, which is ridiculous, but Deion Sanders just finally got in this year after 22 years, so who knows. This has been big talk up here today, because the guy basically said Tommie Frazier didn't get in because they had already taken Will Shields from Nebraska this year and didn't have enough white guys to round out the class.

This guy needs to lose his job, and if the board at the hall of fame is seriously considering race as a factor, they all need to be fired and stripped of their voting privileges. Even if they are considering geography or school, they should all be removed. What are they going to do when the 2001 Miami team becomes eligible, just induct one of them?

Exactly...considering race and geography? What a load of crap.

"Sorry Boz, you're just too...white and country for this class. Maybe next year's batch will be more urban and ethnic and you'll squeak in.

Or the flip side...

"Sorry Dickerson, once again, you're just too 'ethnic' for what we're looking for in this years class. We were really looking for someone...whiter."
