we all want JJ to do well and leave a legacy. IF that legacy happens to be moving more toward the model espoused by, among others, Stallion, then that's a huge accomplishment. IF that legacy happens to be one in which the high point was the 2009 Hawaii Bowl win, we'll be disappointed. IF that legacy happens to be one where a successful model can't be sustained, we'll be disappointed. Will June Jones be our (I hate to say this) Gary Patterson? Or will he be our Dan Hawkins, who left Boise State in the hands of someone who perpetuated and built on the prior success? Or will we wind up like Ball State, who had an undefeated regular season under Brady Hoke, who departed and then a couple of years later BSU goes 2-10 and 4-8?
Again, not a one of us doesnt want JJ and the boys to go 10-2 next season.
Well, I don't. I want 12-0.

BLM never passed the eyeball test. But had he stayed he would have made the team better. Pushed the current QB and added depth while waiting for the real deal. After watching Kyle in the Hawaii bowl I don't blame him. Everyone thought he would be all that. Like I said...

What, you've given up on Kyle Padron already? Why?

this makes me think that you've never been to Fort Worth, especially in the '80s and '90s. TCU was i-r-r-e-l-e-v-a-n-t to 99% of Fort Worth until ESPN came to town with GameDay two Novembers ago.
Actually, I've spent quite a bit of time in Fort Worth. And I've heard a LOT of Fort Worth people say they root for TCU, or at least hope the Frogs would do well, because "they're Fort Worth's team." No, they may not be season ticket holders or maybe they didn't light the city in purple until recently, but there's always been a feeling of goodwill toward TCU in Fort Worth. My point being that TCU didn't have a hard time winning over Fort Worth the way SMU would Dallas. I don't think I've ever heard anyone from Dallas say they support SMU because it's the hometown team. At least by no one under the age of 65.'' Yes, Fort Worth went TCU-crazy the last couple of years, but at least Fort Worth knew to jump on the bandwagon. I'm not sure Dallas would ever react as positively toward SMU were the Mustangs to have a similar run of success. SMU has done a great job of alienating itself from Dallas over the decades and merely pushing the fact that SMU is "the only Division I athletic program in Dallas" isn't going to win anybody over. I've met many Dallas people who either A) don't even know where SMU is, or B) have a negative view of SMU because of the behavior of our spoiled brat students and our Park Cities image.

HUGE challenge to get Dallas area sports fans to identify with or even get interested in SMU; they didn't exactly come out in droves when we played top 10 caliber football in the 80's, did they?
if this bunch starts winning CUSA championships, we can only hope our long alienated DFW area alumni will jump on the bandwagon
no reason we can't aim for 30k crowds in Ford on a regular basis to see a CUSA championship caliber team make a run at a BCS season/BCS bowl

In not sure the average ponyfans poster really identifies or relates to the average post-Pye SMU student. We've a long way to go.
That's where my rich kid parody touchdown money cannons and running pony symbol flava-flav necklace come in. Cash moooooooney!
