I too would disagree with his notion that last year horizontal movement was vertical movement, and he cites the fact we won CUSA West as tangible progress. Yes, playing the CUSA championship is a check off the list, but the last two games of the year especially, from an offensive standpoint and looking at them as a whole were fairly large steps backward. I add that at its heart, the Run N Shoot is an offensive system designed to "level the playing field" when there is a talent or depth disadvantage. While it's only a sample of the last two games, our offense performed poorly against comparable (I'll admit slightly superior talent, especially on defense with UCF) and then very poorly against a much, much lower level of competition.

I submit for the discussion couch em's, with help from others, excellent analysis of SMU's offensive performance relative to our own teams, and then Hawai'is teams during the Jones era.

Reasonable people can disagree, but in the end we still have: 19-8, 16-14, 7-7

There's the big questionmark. I'll buy into Padron being much improved and experienced. (I truly believe he will) but whose going to stretch the field? If you don't stretch the field in this offense, those safeties will creep up and clog the middle. Everytime Robinson went deep he usually took 2 DBs with him. Hopefully Thompson is our answer because he has legitimate big play speed. Its got to be a concern. Darius got it in November-just keep doing what you were doing. Beasley needs to prove he can step up in the big games not just against Rice and Tulane.
