Well, when your 4-year school is of Juco quality, it makes the transfer of hours easier.
According to the 2010 college admissions stats, SMU accepted 54%, while TCU accepted 53%. http://collegeapps.about.com/od/college ... /p/smu.htmIt has been well documented that TCU had 19,000 application requests this year, so the acceptance rate will be somewhat less. The over/under on SAT scores for the 2 schools wasn't all that different, either.
Football admissions are different at TCU than at SMU, At TCU all you have to have is a GED or the equivalent of to get admitted if you are a football player. And you just need to be breathing to stay eligible, that is if you are a football player. See Ladainian Tomlinson.

One of SMU's freshmen non-qualifier recruits had a 2.1 GPA and would have been admitted if he got about 10 more points on his SAT or .05 more on GPA. Give it up. That ship has sailed. SMU is on an even playing field with TCU with regard to admission these days. You're just misinformed if you think otherwise.

Trying to argue that TCU is academically comparable (let alone better) makes you look like a f'ing idiot. Go enjoy your much deserved football success ... on your board.
Incorrect. Waaaay behind the times around here.

You're so far behind you're embarrassing yourself, and sadly I doubt you even realize it. You won't find one reputable source that says otherwise...and save that whole "but but but we're only 50 spots behind in US News argument". If SMU stood still it would take you 30 years to close the 50 spots. For now, why don't you guys focus on catching Tech (and keep UT-Pan Am from catching you): http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/94/bes ... te_22.html
You said "just about every ranking." I can link several others, but frankly, it would do good on this board. But if you want to find discipline-specific rankings where TCU surpasses SMU, you'll find them in the these areas: business, entrepreneurial studies, journalism, ad/PR, education, chain-link supply, pre-med... well, the list goes on. Wasted energy to link them here.

Got to agree on the chain-link supply. Some TCU grads put up some fine fence on some property I had once.

Has SMU really changed that much in the last 20 years? Reading some of these posts, I would get the impression it has become an Ivy league school.
