Can somebody please explain why, if the Big "XII" does lose A$M either now or within the next year, they really need to rush out and replace them? If a conference doesn't have at least twelve members, isn't nine actually a far more appealing number than ten or eleven?
Moreover, if I'm the Big XII, I'd far rather take my time and see whether Houston actually commits to putting its money where its mouth is regarding replacing Robertson, whether TCU keeps winning and drawing good crowds in the Big East, and whether SMU keeps climbing under JJ, before I have to decide on one or more of those three and/or BYU or Air Force (ND is a pipe dream).
FWIW I think the most awkwardly placed school other than A$M right now is TCU. If the Big XII were to come calling on them now, it would be a really, really tough call, far moreso than when they were MWC.
