Found this series of posts on their forum and found it amusing. Makes me glad I'm not a UNT fan.

Besides maybe two comments about UNT being invited to the ACC or the Big XII/BigEast/ACC by two different users, the rest of that thread wasn't all that nonsensical. If C-USA gets raided (either Houston or us), I think UNT would be a great fit for the conference. If things blow up here, they stand a chance at moving up the NCAA football ladder. We are holding on to hope for a Big XII invite, I don't see what's so wrong about them wanting the same from C-USA or MWC.

I would agree Comet. Skip the ACC talk and they sound a little more logical than us I am ashamed to say. And they basically state that they would want to fill in CUSA after we went to the Big 12. Heck, if we got into the Big 12, I would lead the charge for them to CUSA.

I think the 'Nt to the acc' remark might have been a joke. The one guy who ran with the idea acknowledged that it was laughable, and that he was simply wishing.
If that's the case, they have a decent grasp on the situation. What's so funny?

If that comment were a joke then I would have to reluctantly admit that their thread is more grounded on reality than some (most) of the stuff I've read here in the last week  I also don't see the reasoning for constantly trying to belittle them in the same way BCS school forums do to us.

The economics of college athletics is being driven by football and whether anyone cares to admit it or not, UNT has tremendous potential. Problem is, they've had that potential for years but just haven't gotten it done. I would not be surprised to see UTSA or Texas State pass them by.

Bottom line in all of this is that SMU should be concerned. Pay close attention to what is happening in Ft Worth. The small private universities are at risk if they can't cultivate a more avid following among their alumni and then gain support from the "local" community. Our numbers will never compete with the larger public schools and with the cost a college education increasing far beyond inflation, I'm afraid we are getting more exclusive when we need to be more inclusive...at least if we want to survive in the world of Division I athletics.
