No chance ND agrees to go to Big 12. This is all about dollars, and ND's TV contract is enormous. Between its deal with NBC and the money it makes from its basketball membership in the Big East, it's hard to imagine the Big 12 can make an offer ND's arrogant, elitist administration finds appealing.

The only way that ND ends up with Texas is in a loose scheduling confederation of teams with their own TV Contracts/networks

Yes. Stallion is right. ND isn't joining the conference as a full member. But a scheduling alliance could be agreed upon. All eyes are on College Station right now.
Back off Warchild seriously.

If Texas already approached TCU, would they not be guilty of what the SEC is trying to avoid by not extending an offer to A&M before A&M approaches the SEC? Do not see how there could be a concern of Texas suing the SEC for tampering if Texas is doing the same thing.

Stallion, this makes sense if you add BYU to the mix of mutually supportive Independents with each having an their own network possibilities and revenue. A dream scenario is an affiliation with ND, UT, BYU, service academies and a group of Texas schools, e.g. TCU, Baylor, TT, etc. National appeal, top privates and the academies combined with a Texas core.

Sunday night interview w/USA Today. Beebe reinforces notion of Big XII being at 10 teams. http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... nference/1"We're active in looking at what we're going to do next. We're not just in a holding pattern," Beebe said Sunday evening. "We're making plans for all sorts of alternative situations that may present themselves. I think we would be derelict in our duties if we didn't.
"I think 10 seems to be the number our folks are real excited about maintaining, and we feel we have an attractive group of institutions that might be attractive to others to consider."
Brigham Young is a widely speculated target if the Aggies leave, though it's uncertain how the Cougars would view a shift in direction as they enter their first year as an independent in football and membership in basketball and other sports in the West Coast Conference. Beebe declined to address specific schools.
Asked if those deliberations were underway, he said, "Not in an official manner, but it's going to start."

I find it very hard to believe that TCU already said no to the Big XII to stay with the Big East. Getting the chance to play UT, TT, OU and OSU every year is the dream for ANY school in this region - TCU, SMU, UH, Tulsa, Rice and Baylor (well, Baylor's just hoping their dream doesn't end anytime soon)

you would naturally assume TCU would prefer the Big XII to the Big East, but it comes down to economics. I don't know what the revenue sharing agreements are but TCU has shown they can draw well enough at home that they are not dependent on their conference mates to fill the seats at Amon-Carter. So, they won't travel well...that's not why the Big East invited them.

Water Pony, thanks for the article. But, until all the schools get an even split of all revenues, there really is no Big 12 Conference. It is a joke to think they will get agressive, when the only aggressiveness shown is to one another. Until there is unity in purpose and income the concept of conferencee will fail.

I agree about revenue sharing, but SMU is not in a position to demand/expect equal revenue, if we were to be invited by UT/Big12 ... assuming Texas does not go independent and wants SMU for a Longhorn Network conference game. BTW, if chaos then welcome to mega-conferences. We need to hope that the current six BCS conferences survive in some manner, because at some artifically now number, such as 64, we may be on the outside looking in forever. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/art ... 5848228047
