Tulsa record last year was built by playing an INCREDIBLY soft schedule with about 5-6 teams in the Bottom 20 or so in college FB. I think they beat Texas St, Ark. St, SMU, UTEP and San Jose and the School of the Blind. WoW!.

OK, solid may be an over statement but we need to beat somebody, anybody.

Tulsa looks like they win by running and lose by not stopping the run. Unless we get healthy we will have trouble on the edges and I have not really seen a running game yet out of SMU.

Tulsa is 0-3, I don't see your point.

In order to stop the run, one of two things have to happen. Your D-line holds their ground and occupies blockers so that the linebackers can make plays. Or your D-line gets a push and blows up a running game.

Our linebackers are the thinnest and weakest part of the team right now. Against a great, great offensive line at OSU, our D-line didn't get totally manhandled, but the backers couldn't make the plays and stuff the holes, so we gave up 5-7 yards on each carry.

Against a lesser line, I believe our D-line will be able to get a solid push up front, and disrupt the running play before it starts. SMU will win the battle of the trenches against most WAC teams, and will help the run defense perform much better.

OSU has the best O-line in the country. You can't judge our run defense by that performance alone. The only other line that we will have significant problems against is the Fresno game. Unless our linebacker play picks up, we will have major problems in that game.

The sky is not falling, we tried a lot of players out and lost to three very good football teams. How many walk-ons saw the field on Saturday? These games were extended tryouts and we will see a different Mustang bunch this weekend.

My point is that they score points via the run and they have been beated because they have been run over, not passed on. Expect Tulsa to be able to run and defend the pass better than the run.

My comment was prospective and not a comment on games they had won this season - yet.

Look group - we just got through one of the hardest out of conference schedules in the country. We did better then we expected on one game (Tech) worse then expected on another (TCU) and just as expected on the last one (OSU - at least for the realist).

In the last few games we have had at home we have been pretty tough, plus SDSU is coming from half way across the country which will help us.

Our season basically starts Sat. Why we continue to put a stake in our own heart every year with this idiodic schedule I will never know - we always lose 3-4 starters to injury for the year because we are playing up a division at the moment. When will we take our own foot off our own necks and schedule smarter so that this program can get off the ground a bit - it is how every team that grows their program does it -start with some easier teams, and then build from there.

Whats the harm in trying an easier schedule? - by now we have seen the results of the other way, and it could not be more obvious.
