Houston Chronicle: A&M to SEC in fine print stage

Postby Water Pony » Mon Aug 22, 2011 8:45 am

The Chronicle reports last week activities have been focused on the necessary internal steps needed to assure they are doing the right thing and ensure that legally it will meet all requirements. More importantly, they report it is more about a better future for A&M athletics than anti-UT sentiments.

Why the SEC wants A&M? 24.8 Texans, says the Birmingham News

Houston Chronicle: A&M to SEC in fine print stage

This may sound nuts, but if I am the SEC, and I need to add a 14th team, I add Virginia. Reputable school; lots of added tv sets in good markets; non-threatening in short term; academics. UVA is always a school with a slightly out of whack bang to hype ratio.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I doubt UVA wants anything to do with the SEC. UVA is probably the best public school in the country and has some of the highest academic standards anywhere. Maybe I'm wrong but I think they don't want to muddy their waters by being in the down and dirty SEC.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I doubt the Cavaliers would entertain leaving. They struggle in most sports within ACC and would be more similar to UK and Vanderbilt, which would not be appealing long term. Virginia Tech would be a better fit and has a short history with ACC, although VA politicians helped them get into ACC in the first place. Perhpas they owe VA that much.

So far I don't see a solid #14 emerging yet. MIssouri brings the most in new markets, but there does not seem to be much enthusiasm for it and the Tigers would prefer the Big 10.
