ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QBDon't see that anyone already posted this... from ESPN Rumors section:
SMU and head coach June Jones has been active recently in recruiting and they are working all the angles. The Mustangs received a verbal commitment from Stratford safety A.J. Justice as reported by ESPN. Justice is a fine player and a solid addition, but SMU may have its eyes on a bigger prize, namely Justice's high school teammate Jeremiah Briscoe. Briscoe is a four-star quarterback prospect as rated by ESPN Recruiting, and Mike Coppage of Scout.com is reporting the signal caller is set to visit SMU's campus September 10 when the Mustangs take on in-state rival UTEP. "I'm really excited about SMU and Coach (June) Jones," Briscoe told Coppage. "It would be a great fit for me. It's not too far away, and it's one of the few Texas programs that is without a quarterback commit." When it's all said and done, this may be a two-for-one deal for the Mustangs. http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/features ... 10821#8561

Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QBJustice is ID-ed as a safety, but a linebacker in the headline?

Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QB
Better watch it, the NCAA will be calling you, or Dale Hanson. ![]()

Purely by chance I assure you. And feel free to give DH my home address. ![]()
Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QB
I think it's more like high school LBs project as college S. I haven't seen many high school S put on 50 lbs to become college LBs.
Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QB
You have that wrong my friend. HS safeties move down to LB, and HS LBs move down to the DL. Happens all the time.
Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QB
better Dale Hansen than Chris
Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QB
Maybe you are right, but I would imagine more high school DEs have moved to the LB position in college because they just didn't have the size to play on the line once they moved up to the college level. Same thing for LBs to S. But I'm sure there are cases both ways. My point was a high school S weighs 160-180 lbs. That doesn't project to a college LB, unless they put on 30 lbs minimum and keep their speed with that new weight. But alot of high schools will start 220 lb DEs with good speed that are recruited as college LBs.
Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QBJG was what 190? when he first reported here, and now he is up to 235. Adding 30 pounds is not that much weight to put on when getting to college.
Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QBnot to mention HS LBers are usually 4.65-4.7 guys...they're not likely to move that to 4.5 and move to safety
Re: ESPN: SMU lands LB, eye QB
