westexSMU, I have always been told, the thing that hurt SMU support more than anything was the Dallas Cowboys. Might be some truth to that.
......Well, do the Dallas Cowboys hurt TCU now ? Do the Chicago Bears hurt ND or even Northwestern for that matter ? Do the San Francisco Forty Niners hurt Stanford ? Do the Oakland Raiders hurt Stanford ? I have also heard that for years. Sure it is true with Private Schools who do not have much community support in NFL cities such as Rice and Tulane who don't understand or care about the need for community support in sports.

I am an outsider....just being honest....
Dallas has become a far better city just in the 9 years I have been gone...major steps...impressed by the progress...
Thanks for proving my point.

ReedFrawg wrote:Obviously we both have our biases but for me Dallas is just too big and has too much East Coast feel. Everyone I know loves downtown FW (it's very safe), west 7th and the stockyards. I prefer Fort Worth over Dallas but that's why we choose to live in different places. I think Fort Worth can have a big advantage over Dallas for kids who grow up in smaller cities and don't want to be in a big city like Dallas. To each his own...
It's actually a Midwest feel. Dallas is as much Kansas City as it is Texas. I like Fort Worth. Real Texas feel to it. Museums are great, as is the zoo. The area around TCU is really nice, though not as nice as the Park Cities IMO.

I've lived in both Dallas and K.C. They are nothing alike. In fact, I would say K.C. is closer to being like F.W. than Dallas. JMHO.

I agree 100%. I don't think KC is anything like Dallas.

West 7th Fort Worth is very nice Downtown. Fort Worth is safe and clean You wont have bums approaching you for cash as in Dallas . The entire city has changed in the last 7 years it's a live.
The biggest difference in Dallas and Fort Worth are the people . Dallas home of the $59,999 millionaires Fort Worth old money and a pickup.
