I like all the talk to market SMU as Dallas's College Football team, but how bout marketing ourselves as Dallas's Football team, since the 'Boys play in Arlington and Irving before that. SMU is the only College or Pro team playing in the city.
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

Couple of questions come to mind as I read this. Would the school have gone public with their interests if it was not pretty far along in discussions? Is this simply lip service and a means to try to get buts in seats this year?

We have had season tickets for probably 8 years. I first bought them because we had Tech and TCU at home. It was cheaper to buy the season than just buy those two games. I would not buy tickets for the first time with this home slate.

First, it is fantastic to see Turner and Orsini on the same page.
How many threads on here have we wondered whether the admin was behind this? That question is now answered.
I also think it's great this is being said publicly. It makes me think the movers and shakers behind the scenes are also ready to go all out to move up to BCS level.
As for going public now - note how this information came out: a meeting with the DMN editorial board. Trying to sell the Dallas angle to the paper is smart and using the DMN as a megaphone to spread this message is a good move. Much better than just issuing some press release.

Watching the preseason games, there are a lot of empty seats...attendance is down....no way they fill it up.

I'd be more worried if people were actually paying to show up for NFL preseason games.

Careful ColoStang. Putting SMU and Pro team in the same sentence is frowned on in these parts.
Just send 'da money.

The preseason games are sold out. People just do not show up. If you buy a regular season game ticket, they require you also buy a preseason ticket. I bought tickets to one of the Thanksgiving Day games and had to buy a preseason game ticket also. Went ahead and went to both but I would imagine that many do not show up for the preseason games, especially if they are from out of town. But the money is in the bank.

Often thought we could do similar types of promotions involving tickets to "big" games and cross selling the Northwestern Louisiana type games. Of course as it stands now, many would just decline the "big" game if they had to pay more for another.

Did Jerry come out and give you a big kiss before you bought the preseason ticket?
