I really wonder how many subscribers they'll get and be able to fill up the content all the time.

As for DirecTV, spokesman Robert Mercer said that while discussions have taken place, "we have no plans right now to carry it. We understand Longhorn has other programming that may be of value to a small segment of our customers, but two UT football games do not constitute a network."

They've announced they will run little league baseball in the summer to lure in Mitch.

They're lucky they have Fios on board.
I can't imagine they ink a deal with TimeWarner anytime soon. TW still doesn't have NFL Network b/c they don't want to place it on the regular tier of channels.
I imagine the same fight is happening right now over LN.

I think individual college networks should be outlawed by the NCAA. There is little doubt that conference TV packages have made a huge difference in the conference strengths. Why do conferences care so much about TV markets? Because good markets mean good income. The richer the conference the stronger the conference. The same will apply to individual colleges. The NCAA presidents should pass a rule that if you are going to be in the NCAA you cannot have your own TV network. They should do this NOW while they only have UT and BYU to contend with.

US Supreme Court has already ruled over 30 years ago that individual schools, not the NCAA and according to opinion not individual conferences, own TV rights-so NCAA will never prohibit such networks. I'm shocked it has taken so many years for schools to realize this.

Supreme court ruling doesnt outlaw prohibition of arrangements such as Longhorn Network as condition of membership. Big 12 is basically a UT run outfit, so I wouldn't expect them to prohibit the Longhorns from doing anything they like.
