Louie is probably my all-time favorite. Would like to see him more prominently associated with today's program. He is a legendary and beloved figure in San Diego.

How about Donnie Anderson, E.J. Holub (TT); Jerry LeVias, Don Meredith, Forrest Gregg and John Lagrone ( SMU ); Pete Lammons, Tommy Nobis, Super Bill Bradley, Earl Campbell (TU); Bob Lilly (TCU) among many others.

The best all rounder Doak Walker. The quarterback was Fred Benners. If you can find tape of Benners against ND in South Bend do watch it and enjoy.

Or if you can get the CD of SMU-Ohio St.1950 or 51. Benners and Johnny Champion were fantastic in that game. Ozfan- I was also at that game in South Bend.

I hate to mention another Baylor guy, but Singletary could play too.

Not a favorite player, but a memorable play that comes to mind when I try to think of something non-SMU is Quentin Coryatt laying out some frog at AGC in 1991 or so.

As far as players, my dad used to like to point out how tough Billy Ray Smith was (Sr and Jr I think) as well as Earl Campbell

I have to admit that I have trouble putting Jerry Levias in my top 2 all time SWC. Not only did I see him play, but for one year, my freshman and his senior, I was on his team. And having known him, I have him in my top 2 greatest people with whom I have associated in person.

Because of his conquering of the hardships he had to endure, I do not see Jerry as a player but rather as an icon of the game above the on field action. I just cannot include him in the same category as all of the others. He stands alone in his own category.
