I'm no legal-type but isn't that like saying if Dale Hansen (worthless blowhard, but still drives ratings) retired he could be liable when advertisers canceled their commercials during the news?
Maybe, but then again Dale Hanson wasn't at the table negotiating the commercial deals. I'm not a lawyer by any means, but I would think if I negotiated and signed a 15 year contract then no later than a year later I break that contract, I would owe a lot of money back. I guess it just depends on how the contract is worded. Could it by like Mike Vick that had to pay back part of his contract after his legal issues?
Otherwise, why if I'm a TV network would I give a 15 year deal? Year to year based only on the teams in the conference. Otherwise, they take all the risk and the schools can jump ship to better deals with little to stop them but conference fees.
Just me thinking out loud.
