Re: DeLoss Dodds' legacyAnd gave himself some very nice pocket change. One of the highest paid state employees.
Re: DeLoss Dodds' legacyIn his defense, I think that Arkansas started the ball rolling in the SWC, he just pulled out the dagger.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: DeLoss Dodds' legacyThis game isn't over. He may have help kill the SWC but it sure didn't hurt UT. One might even argue that it was a shrewd move.
And we don't know how this Big XII-II-I thing will end up. UT may still yet come out smelling like a yellow rose.
Re: DeLoss Dodds' legacyHe's the man! Let's not kid ourselves, if we were in UT's position we would love to have an AD make these moves. While it might not be best for college football as a whole, UT has become an even greater power player on the field and off. They do what they want, any conference would take them at a drop of a hat. I'll say it again, he's the man!
Re: DeLoss Dodds' legacyUT killed the Southwest Conference and they are killing the Big 12. Simple as that!
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: DeLoss Dodds' legacyIs Dodds job to do what is best for the Big 12 or old SWC? OR is it to do what is best for UT? I say the latter. He has done a tremendous job of raising revenue which allows better coaches in ALL sports and better facilities in ALL sports while keeping it in an exciting enviroment for the fans. Is it fair as far as a "level playing field"? No, but that isn't his fault! With scholarship limits and recruiting rules just like any other D1 program, they are using the advantage to make sure they have the best teams on a pretty regular basis. Can an SMU orTCU beat them? Yes. Just probably not on a regular basis but that is ok. Get them away from Memorial Stadium and the odds increase even more!
