One of the advantages to the B12 bringing us in is all of their alums in the Dallas area will get to see all of their schools sports without having to travel. Sure OU and TU play football in Dallas every year and occasionally other B12 schools play here, particularly when they schedule us. But that is just football. If we join the B12 all the different schools will be here for all the sports. That said, I still think TU would rather do anything other than have us in their conference. They are simply afraid of us.

I think the best way to overcome the TU objection is through the Fox network and we have some alums and friends that should be working that angle.

That's all well and good but the Big XII is all about Texas and OU. Those schools already "control" the DFW media markets.

Let's all try not to lose sight of what broke up the SWC and got the Big XII started to begin with. Today's game is all about TC contracts. The Big 10 network really got the ball rolling and Texas and OU are looking to expand their marketing countrywide. Only Notre Dame and maybe BYU and AFA can help with that. SMU and Houston might bring a few more viewers/subscribers, but we just don't have the clout and as much as we traditionalists want our "regional rivalries", the trend today is for national appeal that will net larger TV dollars

Doesn't look to me like the Big XII is going to survive and for Baylor and what will be left of the northern division, it's probably going to mean good-bye AQ status.

the problem with airforce is that they can never really compete given the way you have to get into the service academies.

The only way to save the Big 12, is for OU to marshall all the other schools (except the whorns), unite and tell Texas how it will be...no more unfair revenue sharing, no longer in charge, they have just been outvoted, etc. If the Longhorns leave so what! Call their bluff and make sure no one allows their minor sports to play in the Big 12 and cancel all future football games with any member--including TU/OU!

DeLoss, you may have gained your TV revenue, but your brand value has been seriously damaged.

All things cycle. Do you remember your record before Mac? Pretty run of the mill. It is happening again.

Events may run out of control with no adult supervision. From where will the leadership come? If OK and UT fend for themselves, the Big 12 will fragment and possibly disappear. With no Southwest / Great Plains BCS conference, Texas (UT and the state) loses its FB identity.

So, who will step forward and show leadership? OK as the adult? UT as the hero? Beebe (I don't think so)? Pickens/OSU? Missouri as a solid thought leader? Perhaps a new member like BYU, who demonstrates to the Horns how sharing revenue a bit more, while keeping a national network? Perhaps Dallas (city, Jerry and SMU) showing the value of a geograhic traveling epicenter for all Big 12 sports?

Who will show leadership?

So what exactly is required for a conference to gain AQ status? With the possible implosion of the b12-3 maybe a leader could step up and form a new conference with some of the best local (Texas) CUSA schools and the best of the rest of the b12-3 as well as a couple from some of the other conferences. IMO if it were comprised of some really good schools they should be able to get AQ status as well as a good TV contract. If the conference were formed correctly it could provide the stability which the b12-3 lacks.

I would rather RGV be anointed to do so rather than RGT.
