Clock Management

Postby f4shionablecha0s » Sun Sep 04, 2011 11:37 pm

As we saw at the end of the game, JJ is clearly capable of it... Why not before the half?

Terrible clock management. And in JJ's scheme, that is his fault. I do hope it improves over the course of the season.

Or the UCF game, no sense of urgency at all.

I felt like we could have gotten into field goal range with a minute to go before the half. Didn't like the way he squandered the time.

I seriuosly think he was afraid of having to give A&M the ball back with time on the clock if we did not convert. Kind of a playing scared strategy but maybe he thought if we could get in at half time and regroup, we could still win. This is my benefit of the doubt statement.

You could probably sell me on this if I hadn't watched a SMU game the previous three seasons.

Oh, I agree his clock management has never been handled in a manner I would. Of course he knows more than me from a coaching standpoint, but it is possible that this is a short coming aspect in his coaching resume. I was just trying to come up with a reason for doing what he did, or did not do.

I think he was just looking to see if McDermott could get more points on the board against a short clock...or maybe he wanted to spare his team the misery of letting the home team fans count down those final 10 seconds

Looking more at the end of the first half when we had the ball and 3 time outs and did not use them to try and score before halftime.

Yeah, that wasn't ideal.
