Lights ? Are you kidding me ?

Postby Pony in SA » Sun Sep 11, 2011 10:17 pm

Our offense underperforms and we drop passes because our lights are a problem ? The other teams we play seem to do fine, remember when OSU had a receiver catch like 6 or 7 TD ? I bet Keenum and Houston would do just fine if they played up here this year under our lights. What a bunch of crap, why didn't he bring this up in year one when he first got here ? How was UTEP's 2nd string QB able to complete passes ?

I have an idea, have your team more focused, prepared, and intense to play the game. Lets not have guys repeatedly jump offsides, lets not have our holder and 2 linemen late to run on the field after JG's last TD to put us up so we can kick it right away before play is reviewed, and lets actually get the defense called in time so our DL is ready when they hike the ball.

Also, lets not have our QB come over to talk to you after you have been using signals during the game and then use a timeout to call a play and then still get a delay/false start so we waste a time out. It also would be nice to find some faster LBs who can cover the tight-end over the middle route also or at least make some adjustments as a coaching staff to stop it. Only been 2 games in a row that has been exposed.

What I saw last night was not good by any stretch and if anyone is objective they could see that. Our offense is terrible and has been for awhile and yes some is the players but at some point the coach has to take some responsibility. Offense scored 21 points on an average team and if UTEP makes the 2 FGs that were missed and blocked we lose 23 to 21 unless the defense gets us a TD.

It is not the lights by any means, we have way bigger problems than that.

i'm guessing June was rationalizing the QB move, and more than anything trying to deflect any criticism from McDermott for the zero offensive production we had in the second half.

Rationalize all you want, how about take some responsibility for getting the kids better prepared and focused to play, better organized on the sidelines, and better aware of game situations. As the captain of the ship he needs to do better, much better.

Also, can we please find a kicker who can kick the ball to the endzone ? Utah State had 2 kickers they used in the Auburn game who kicked ball out of the endzone, and even UTEP's kicker hit it pretty good. Maybe we can trade for one of them.

You might want to know exactly what Jones said regarding the lights and their placement after the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWnx43xX ... _embedded#!

Maybe we need to perform a Zapruder type analysis of the angles of the lights direction relative to the angle from where the ball was thrown from to the QB to the receiver, then consider the trajectry and strobe effect off the seam of the ball. The exact time relative to sundown to analize the dayglow effect which if resonating near the same frequency could be the REASON the receivers possibly told Jones they had difficulty seeing the ball. A Grand Jury investigation with cross examination by Stallion should put the nail in Jones coffin... Or vindicate him of all transgression.

I guess Cole Beasley is too short for the lights to bother him, since he's the only receiver who can get open.

Where's all this receiver talent we supposedly recruited?

I have no idea, but I do understand that there is a huge difference between long balls coming to the receiver from a height, and shorter passes with less arc. The two long passes which were dropped were coming from high in the lights. Not saying our kids shouldn't do better but I'd be really interest in hearing it from the kids themselves.

Sounds like you are only interested getting the facts and have a mind with critical thinking skills.

Pros Fight Glare, Poor Color Quality in Stadium Lighting

http://www.ecmag.com/?fa=article&articleID=4890

"Consider this: Barry Bonds is blessed with 20/20 vision, excellent reflexes, and lighting-quick bat speed, he would be just another hacker if Pacific Bell stadium was equipped with anything less than state-of-the-art lighting fixtures.

Among the first steps in the process was the design of light zones with different levels of illumination. At Pacific Bell, for instance, different specifications were designed for the pitcher-catcher zone, infield, midfield, outfield, and “celebrity zone” in the first dozen rows of seats behind home plate between the dugouts".

Maybe Jones knows what he is talking about for the last three years.

If you actually look at the two plays Jones was referring to, neither Holman or Johnson looked to see the ball until late. They didn't try to adjust their position until the last second. He is only talking about deeps balls that get hung up in the lights....

I know exactly how June feels.. I could hardly find my flask o'crowne on saturday night. The light placement made it difficult for me to seach through my backpack.. need I say, it was too dark for me to see. After slowly pouring said flask into overpriced "Armed Forces Bowl" Cup (we must have a surplus).. things began to clear up quite well for the evening.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
