I think it is a result of his inexperience at the position.

My take on this issue is that JJ is looking for a big strong blocking back in case Line gets hurt. Rashad has the strength and size to handle both linemen and backers. I am guessing that they are not really looking at him to run the ball that much, but rather, block.

if we get the ball on the 2 or 3 yd line vs TCU - and you have Line still nursing a seperated shoulder - you can expect RW to get the ball.

From after the TAMU game and from the DMN as JJ has used some really big RB's before like 'Ironhead' Heyward and 360 pound Mauia at Hawaii:

UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU has used freshman Rishaad Wimbley from Forney as a running back in spot situations during this week's practices.

Wimbley is listed at 6-0, 295 pounds. He played nose tackle mostly in high school, although he did carry the ball some.

"He probably was going to redshirt this year,'' coach June Jones said. "So when they said they were going to redshirt him, I wanted to look at him at running back. He's big, he's fast, he has good feet and he's smart. He's a load.''

Jones is no stranger to oversized running backs. He coached Craig "Ironhead" Heyward during his best NFL season at Atlanta, and 6-0, 360-pound Reagan Mauia at Hawaii in 2006.

Wimbley could be a big, extra blocker in passing situations. Zach Line, who had 128 yards against A&M, remains the primary running back.
