I love smu but I hate all their elitist fans. I hate TCU but I'm not going to try to sound like an elitist idiot when I complain about them. Act like a man. Stop hurting my school with your shi.tty attitude
I'm sorry I became your metaphor for an elitist fan because I'm really am not one. Act like a man? Ruining your school? Please. Why don't you grow up and stop pretending that everything said on a message board has some sort of cosmic influence. I'm on my home team's board, during rivalry week, on a board where UH grads are regularly told that they will never amount to anything more than a 7-11 clerk...and I pointed out that some TCU fans choose to wear cammo to games and they have tractors on the field...THEY DO!!!...BIG FREAKIN' DEAL! I swear we are worse to our own fans on here than we ever are to our opponents. These personal attacks are ridiculous.
I support this message.

in general academic/endowment/sterotype smack on an athletic message board is extremely weak at least when its used to suggest another school sucks. Usually done by posters who "got nuthin" else to say

What about architectural smack? That's high-brow stuff.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

You're exactly what I'm talking about. I'm sure you think all this academic smack is great-I find it nauseating. How about we talk football, basketball and how to improve our athletic program. I have no problem talking about SMU events and academics- its just those posters who are somehow under the impression that SMU's academics in comparison to other schools really means a damn in athletics-it really doesn't. Its the last resort of a losing program

We could start by you buying season tickets to basketball this year.

Big Hoss wrote:I have no problem with ragging on their team, their coach, their school, or whatever else you want to rag on. It's just ironic that most people on here complain about our attendance and then make it seem like we wouldn't love to have that many fans, of any type, in our stadium, too.
I freakin' can't stand all things related to TCU, so feel free to hate on them for anything and any reason and I'll back you. But I'm also a realist, and I know that when we get more attention, we're going to get more fans like the ones you are talking about in our stands, and I'll be ecstatic to hear them all cheering Red/Blue like we did at the NW State game, but in much bigger fashion.
This is right on. Schools like ours need the causal fans or we'll never draw well in comparison to our state school brethren (especially when the schools we play are from far away). When TCU played OSU at Jerryworld last year, there were two guys sitting behind me that I would gently describe as "fans of NASCAR." They were clearly not graduates of TCU or any other quality school, but they were the loudest, most into the game fans in our section, and I was loving every second of it. I'm happy to have "t-shirt fans" at our games, because it is: a) as sign that you have a great program in which otherwise unaffiliated people have interest, and b) because as a small private school, it helps tremendously in the perception of how one's school supports its team. There is no way we could've shown so well at the Rose Bowl without many fans without degrees from TCU.

there is no way in hell I am buying Season Tickets ever again with the product ("ie trash) that Doherty and College Basketball in general offer during the non-conference schedules. Its a farce, its not interesting or compelling and its boring. The fact is everybody knows this and doesn't really even enjoy watching it. SMU and College Basketball lost me. I'm taking a stand against what College Sports is doing. Its even worse than NFL Preseason games which nobody would go to if they didn't have to buy tickets to get season ticket package. I'm hooked on College Football so there ain't much I can do about it.
