Re: Dallas Morning SnoozeQuick thoughts off SMU's 40-33 win over No. 20 TCU
"1. What a scene. The SMU fans in attendance at Amon Carter Stadium were wild. They celebrated and celebrated after the overtime win. Safety Chris Banjo even came running out with the Iron Skillet after it was presented to the team in the locker room. "SMU, SMU" chants were ringing in Fort Worth of all places. 2. Give credit to QB J.J. McDermott for hanging in there, and especially to receivers Darius Johnson and Jeremy Johnson. WOW. Darius was amazing, making highlight-reel grabs time and again. Jeremy Johnson, playing in place of injured Cole Beasley, made the winning touchdown catch. He said Beasely was coaching him throughout the game. He said the post-corner route on the winning touchdow had caught coach June Jones' notice in practice this week. 3. Give credit to the defense. They were exhausted. Exhausted. Ja'Gared Davis was playing through an injured hamstring, and I'm sure there were a lot more similar stories. But they came together to stop TCU in overtime after giving up 23 fourth-quarter points and letting the Frogs back in. That used to be crazy talk in these parts.
