Recognition and Congratulations

Postby S....M....U » Sun Oct 02, 2011 1:11 pm

First of all congratulations to the team and staff! What an excellent victory!
I also want to give out a shout out to the fans who stormed the field and met the team afterwards. Those kids will remember that day for the rest of their lives.

Yesterday, I attended the SMU/TCU watch party at The Elm in Denver (TCU's bar). It is important to note that we outnumbered their fans 4 to 1. Everyone was loud energetic and excited about the team. When TCU dropped that fourth down pass in the fourth quarter, we went nuts. I looked around and every TCU fan had already bolted for the door hahhaahaha.

For the rest of the day (and night), I proudly sported my SMU/TCU game day polo. Walking to the next bar, I was approached by a group of guys. One commented on my Cardinals hat asking how i felt about our loss to the Phillies (obviously I'm not pleased). The other said, what the hell does he care, his other team just had a huge victory against their rival (pointing at my polo).

I couldn't believe that this random person had seen our game (he had no connection to either school) and even commented on it. We are finally getting the national recognition that we deserve. What a great day to be a Mustang!

It was a compelling game for TV-I bet ratings were pretty good. When an underdog gets way ahead of a ranked team-people tend to check back in because they suspect the comeback and close finish

Congratulations from a Tech fan on a great victory. I watched every minute of the game and it was fantastic. Over and over I thought to myself, "SMU is back!" Now, beat the hell out of UH, earn a top 25 ranking, and enjoy the rest of your season.

I watched at the BJ's in burbank, ca. In walked a couple to watch football. She a SMU alum, he south carolina. By the end, the bar was watching our little corner. The staff all watching too. Way to go SMU.

My thoughts as the game ended, "Hello, NCAA relevance. Yes, we are SMU. Welcome back, SMU."

Good job to all.

I watched the game in a hotel sports bar in Orlando. The bartender there was really impressed with SMU and said that we definitely should beat UCF. Nice to hear a UCF fan give our Ponies some Props!

Watched it at Union Ale on State St in Santa Barbara. There were some USC fans there and they were all pulling for SMU, saying they learned about the DP after what they just went through. One of the guys knew all about our history and their whole table was pulling for us (some UCSB guys as well) ... it's a great story and Americans love underdogs. We will become VERY popular as the wins pile up ...

I think college fans around the country are rooting for us - get comments all the time wearing SMU stuff in airports, etc.

Was at Bob's in FW and everyone was saying congrats...TCU fans saying that they were impressed and the team has greatly improved since the A&M game and was a different team.
