Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionI keep thinking-what do any of these likely disparate remaining schools have in common and why would any Network want to televise games that aren't rivalries. I personally think if you going to have a conference spread from The East to Florida and Texas you need some teams with common interest SMU/TCU/Houston and UCF/USF. You'd think TV Networks might push those rivalries too. I guess it might depend on how much of the guts of the Big East are ripped from the Big East

Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionOne of the many reasons the Big East's football TV contract is so little. Heck the best one - the Backyard Brawl - is about to disappear.
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionIt was posted on here somewhere that what does UH have in common with any of the Big East schools? Surely, they would want us over UH. AND, one would think that Orsini may be using the ND card for their help. Who knows.
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue Expansion
Makes good sense; hopefully the networks see it that way. The way the last few SMU/TCU games have been played, particularly this last one, makes your case. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionI'd love a Southern Division of SMU, TCU, UH, Southern Mississippi, UCF and USF

Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionI am not sure going East helps our excellent recruiting in California, but I guess we don't play out there now anyway.
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue Expansion
lets schedule a home and home with UCLA. Houston did.
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue Expansion
Long-term focus needs to be on Texas recruiting anyway, not California. We will be lucky to keep Klemm for 2-3 more years...need to think ahead.
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionShort term focus should be on beating the other CUSA teams that are candidates for the Big East. Apparently, beating TCU meant something.

Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionWhy don't we get, SMU, TCU, Tech, UT, A&M, Baylor, Rice and Arkansas to form a regional confer....oh wait, never mind.
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionTCU will get us in then a week later we will find out they are jumping ship to the big 12.
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionOn a more serious note, the BE started as a regional powerhouse basketball league, once the raided football schools leaves I can see the basketball only schools leaving and joining a regional basketball conference, like the Atlantic 10. What happens then?

Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue Expansion
My first preference (which is unlikely due to UT) is a regional BCS AQ conference, I.e. Big 12. Since this is not emerging, I think Stallion's TX and FL combos Is the next best scenarios for us and the BE. At least, traveling teams in all sports have multiple opportunities to play, when they travel the to the East, Ohio River Valley, FL and TX. And, media gets natural rivals. Hopefully, TCU and USF see the value too. Pony Up
Re: Big East CEOs Agree to Aggressively Pursue ExpansionIMO, I think the priest is going to give last rights on the Big East, and the BE will go back to being a BB conference. The important decision will be the college in the meth state (Missouri). Once they decide what conference they want to be in, the dominoes will start to fall fast and furious.
