Re: Big East gives ok to expand...New name in the mix.Yes, it's a shame they won't have a chance to lose to Rice.

Big (L)east could become WAC-16IF the Big (L)east stays in the football business, they could end up spread out full of mid-majors like the old WAC did with 16 schools after the demise of the SWC. Perhaps the answer is to merge the CUSA with the East leftovers. "Who knows what evil lies in the hearts of men. The Shadow do, homes."

How would that be different than what the Big East has been since 2005?
Re: Big East gives ok to expand...New name in the mix.Boston.com reports SMU and UCF are targets giving TCU and USF travel partners. To get to 10, it is Navy for FB only or, if not the Midshipmen, then Temple.

I assume it gives teams coming to play a TCU or USF a more opportunity in other sports, when coming to central Florida or DFW. In FB, Big East teams would come to Dallas every year alternating the Frogs and the Mustangs and a Florida annual trip with a Tampa/Orlando rotation. Big East gives ok to expand...New name in the mix. That makes sense
Re: Big East gives ok to expand...New name in the mix.
That does make sense. I kept seeing that phrased tossed around and I had no clue what exactly it meant (you could almost picture the TCU and SMU football teams traveling in the same bus going to the Northeast ![]()
Re: Big East gives ok to expand...New name in the mix.Think non-revenue sports too. Maybe TCU and SMU do syncrohize trips to NE, Ohio River Valley and Florida.
Also, an added benefit of a TCU/SMU and USF/UCF is the value of bringing rivalries along with the membership. Rivalries add intensity and media value. So you foster TX, FL, Ohio River (WVA, Cincinnati and Louisville) and NE combinations (Connecticut, Rutgers, and Temple/Navy) Pony Up
Re: Big East gives ok to expand...New name in the mix. What happens when the Ohio River teams leave. Wonder if TCU got a friendly suggestion to look elsewhere from DeLoss
Re: Big East gives ok to expand...New name in the mix. This scenario doesn't work if Cincinnati, Louisville and WVA leave for the Big 12. BE needs to locked them in now.

Oklahoma and Texas do not want a championship game. I doubt that the Big 12 will reach twelve schools. At most, they will have ten. It is possible that the Big 12 could add BYU and BYU alone, leaving the rest of the Big East intact. Far East Conference
