Hire Switzer at any costJust raise tuition 30% instead of just 7 or 8. Then maybe we can afford him.
On this topic Nevada is a perfect example- they lost about 9 or 10 players this year, half of them due to armed robbery and drug trafficing!
Do SMU fans really want to see a starting QB/RB/... arrested for armed robbery of a 7-11? That's Barry Switzer's MO.
Re: Hire Switzer at any costDo you think Bennett is a better coach than Switzer? OMG, you must be kidding. You're right, the Hunt and Cox families have no money? Get a clue [deleted].
I think most Alumni would diasgree with you. When I was in college, Switzer won national titles. Bennett has never even been an assistant on a national championship team.
WE NEED TO BELIEVE!!!
TT appears to be very happy with Knight and Leach. I didn't realize coaches were held to the same standard as the Pope. I'm not a big Switzer fan either but guys like Price at UTEP who have some baggage shouldn't be automatically ruled out. We have to decide if we are in or out. If out, that's ok with me but if in we have to be completely in.
I agree all this talk about Switzer or Steve Spurrier is a waste of energy. Bennett is in his 3rd year of a 5 yr deal. If we finish 1-10 this year and have a repeat of that performance next year...then it will be time to start talking about who the next coach might be...but I think patience is called for here.
To be fair to Bennett, let's see how this team fares once the 2 deep is full of guys he recruited and isn't loaded with Frosh and RS Frosh. It will be 2006 before this team will reach that point. Unless some of SMU's wealthy friends of the program want to invest in a buyout and a big name coach, we have no choice but to be patient and see if Bennett will in fact be the guy who turns this thing around. Right now, we clearly don't have the hosses to get it done. I just want to see another win before the season ends. You know it has to be tough leaving the redshirts on so many of last year's recruits who could probably help us get that 2nd win this year...but I agree it's the right thing to do.
