What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?I am absolutely struggling to figure out why he chose to go nuclear like that. Let's suspend reality and assume he's rational, and this was for a reason. Take Mike Gundy in 2007...yeah, he genuinely cares for his kids, yadda yadda, but that rant was 110% for recruiting purposes moving forward-and it worked wonderfully. Mission accomplished.
With Mr. Patterson though, I can't possibly think of anything unless this is some ploy to generate publicity and ignite rivalry with a pending conference affiliation with TCU. I can't buy that, I still have some sanity, otherwise I'm buying a lottery ticket too. So..,can anyone think of a reasonable, rational motivation for this? All this has served to do is tarnish his reputation, make him seem like a suffering, sniveling, whining, sore loser, continued to remind the entire world that we beat them, and give us free publicity. That is exactly what this is....making a rivalry better by raising us to their level, and giving the enemy free publicity and a boat-load of bulletin board material. Even an arrogant, bitter, SOB isn't going to give the enemy an advantage like that. What am I missing?
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion? After reading the PonyFans depiction of him as the real life version of the SNL van down by the river guy, he realized that losing to Baylor to open the season and then losing to us on Saturday made that much more of a reality than he had originally thought.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.
Potential is nothing, performance is everything.
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?
I believe you answered your own question.
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?Yeah, the 'ol tongue in cheek but I'm struggling with this one. I wonder if he just snapped.
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?listening to just a few of his press conferences, he has never struck me as fully in command of his emotional outbursts, nor of his distorted perceptions. in just his single post-game remarks, he is back-and-forth in blaming the players while trying not to, accepting responsibility, but shifting it back on others.
maybe, the stress of this season, with all the hype he began to believe of himself, really has pushed him to new extremes. but, then again, the sideline doctor conflict showed the same kind of character defect last year.

Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion? The guy reads everything said about TCU and himself-he obviously got drunk Saturday Nite and wondered onto ponyfans.com.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?Proves that the post the other night from Gary Patterson isn't real, although I'm sure that was already figured out.

What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?
Hey Gary - you are a freak! Nice billboard right by our stadium that fired up our players..
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?Over the last 5 full seasons and through this season so far, TCU is 52-12 with two losses to SMU. Obviously we are a huge thorn in their side as we are one of the few teams constantly screwing up their very stellar record. They are 4-2 against t us over that run so obviously they don’t totally dominate us. That has to be a huge thorn in Patterson’s side to know that a weak, nowhere near TCU doormat can play and win so much against him. Had we not screwed up his 2005 National Championship year and screwed up his home winning streak this year, I doubt he would think twice about SMU.
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?I have been an admirer of Patterson, based on his performance at TCU and some inside information I have access to. I still believe strongly that TCU has been a good example for the "Powers That Be" at SMU to follow and if it were not for the success that TCU has enjoyed, SMU might still be content to be second rate. Having said that, if the reports are true as to what he has said, he has gone off the rails and showed very poor judgment. If I was a TCU alumnus I would be ashamed. One clue to his behavior, if you read the article about him in a recent SI, is that he is a very insecure individual. With the loss to SMU he faces the real possibility of three more losses, San Diego State, BYU and BSU, making it a five loss year. That is no excuse for his statements, if accurate, and I bet the Top Dogs at TCU are gritting their teeth. I sure prefer the demeanor of JJ. both with the media and on the sideline.
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?I believe he passed on the Minnesota job because he knew that he couldn't instantly win there, and used that to get more money out of TCU where he figured he was safe forever. He could be the Darrell Royal of TCU and keep playing MWC and BE creampuffs and look like a savior. Then SMU comes along the same year that Baylor pees in his punchbowl and wins at TCU, and worse, we're mentioned as a BE candidate and even worse, seem to be happy we beat his team. And because he is basically insecure, he blew a huge gasket.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion? He created all this hype that they "were not just a team but a program". I think he bought his own PR and now is faced with reality.

Re: What Am I Missing With Patterson's Explosion?Fatterson is a loser. His comments and actions along with June's response and media coverage are only strengthening our recruiting draw against tcu.
Thank you Fatterson Pony Up!
