I think 5.4 yds per carry is still a ton......that would still rank us in the bottom tier of rush defense.
Out of his 22 carries, there were quite a few times he had only short yardage gains or even a few stops behind the line of scrimage. The 72 yd run was the only one that I could identify as one of his long runs because it was for a TD. Hell, he is a damn good RB and we were not able to contain him every time. As I said his long runs skewed the per run average, but I remember the stops for short or no gains and thought at that time we were doing a pretty good job on him...all things considered. He is not the type of RB that you can afford to make a mistake on or he will burn you badly...and that is what he did, but not on every time he carried the ball.

It may be funny, but it's not too far off the mark. At least two, if not three, of their scores can be attributed to our five turnovers and those five turnovers prevented us from driving for a score. As I said, until we stop making those stupid mistakes, we don't have much of a chance of winning. That was why we were as good as we were in the Texas Tech game...we had a minimal number of mistakes in that game and the same goes for the SJSU game.

Do tell, PK, what makes you think we can stop making stupid mistakes and start winning now, after fifteen years of no apparent ability to do that? Or, maybe you don't think that can happen.
BTW, I know it's been a long time since we were in differential equations, but we lost by 31 this weekend--getting back even three touchdowns would still have us losing by 10.

You have left out the other side of the equation jt, if three of those scores for them don't happen and instead our three drives continue on into the end zone you have a 42 point swing. Ya got to start thinking positive jt...it is after all those turnovers that stop the drives and prevent us from scoring.

Sorry, but our football program just sucks, PK, and that is the only thing I'm positive about right now. I'll still be there, checking out chicks on the 'vard and having my ticket torn every Saturday, but I'm not gonna look past the obvious anymore. My "no expectations" philosophy is starting to turn as well--I'm starting to expect to lose.

Unfortunately, I have been expecting to lose this year...but not to get BLOWN OUT by Rice and La Tech.
This is where my anger and frustration starts...the failure to even show a glimmer of improvement...we're actually moving backwards.
Last year, our games were closer than this year so far...44-0; 59-7; 44-10; 41-10...that's awful!
All I expected this year was 2-3 wins and some close games...no one can honestly sell it that this team is anywhere close to where we all envisioned it would be by now when Bennett was hired.
